The serenity of surrounding bush land, with its abundance of birdlife, including Kookaburras, Wedge Tail Eagles, King Parrots and Owls,  mobs of wallabies and kangaroos grazing in nearby paddocks, and the ever so cuddly Wombats, meandering through the paddocks, add to the calmness to soothe the soul.

Bunyip State Forest is only a couple of kilometres from Tallawarra Homestead and is just one of a couple of locations where the endangered Helmeted Honeyeaters, Victoria’s bird emblem has been placed to encourage breeding. Also close in close proximity to Tallawarra Homestead is Mt. Cannibal Flora and Fauna Reserve.

There are walking tracks throughout Bunyip State Forest.
